23, 2004 As we come to the close of yet another
productive successful year in the neighborhood I want to again say thank you to
everyone in the neighborhood who makes this such a great place to live. Thank
you, also, to those who give their time so freely to work for the betterment of
the neighborhood by serving on the steering committee or the Board of Directors.
It is a pleasure to know and work with all of you. To highlight the year we
hosted a couple political candidates forums, held our annual ice cream social,
and today we held our annual scrub day event. When we were made aware of the merger talks between
Adams Elementary and Garton Elementary Schools we came together as a group to be
included in discussions with the school and be a part of the decision making
process. It has been decided that Adams
Elementary School will remain open and the school will be updated and remodeled.
It is because of those who attended the meetings and voiced their concerns that
the school will remain open. Now we as a neighborhood need to give-Adams our
support in any way that is needed. Thanks to a grant given to us by Tom
Hockensmith, our County Board of Supervisor, this newsletter is being mailed to
everyone in the Douglas Acres Neighborhood Association area. If you are
receiving this for the first time we hope you are enjoying it and are finding
something of interest in the newsletter. We would love to have you attend our next DANA meeting in November. (Please refer to the
meeting dates in this newsletter) Election of officers will be held in January and
if you are able to work on the steering committee or serve on the board we would
love to include you, just let me or any steering member know you are interested.
It really is a lot of fun! Thank you, Linda Westergaard
